COLLABORATION
Deborah Epstein and Alan Joslin met in 1980 as graduate students in the Department of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Their first collaboration was the design and construction of a loft in the North End of Boston, in which they lived amongst the dust for two years of construction, proving compatibility. Marriage soon followed along with each gaining professional experience through work in separate architectural practices abroad and at home. In 2002 with children launched, Deborah and Alan decided to bring their skills and experience together to form the firm of Epstein Joslin Architects. For the next 22 years together, along with a talented staff of dedicated professionals, they collaborated on a rich portfolio of “beloved destinations and distinctive dwellings” for both non-profit cultural arts organizations and private clients across the country.
